Dings ? I'd take the High spots off with a file , low spots ignore or dont use the rim. anymore..
There are a LOT of different grades of Scotchbrite. but finding them at retail may be the tough part.

They used to sell a variety package of a handful of grits/aggressiveness.

Kind of handy to have around when you need it :-).
