The simple act of heeding a traffic control device does NOTHING to eliminate risk. The above write up illustrates that assuming others will yield right of way is more likely to get you killed.

I can do a stop and go as safely at a red light as I can at a stop sign. I can slow roll a red light or stop sign as safely as I can roll through a yield. I treat all intersections exactly the same. I make sure its safe to go before I go.
