it wouldn't come at the cost of me wearing lady legs!

Nothing ladylike about my waxed 50 yr old legs, and I routinely race against other 50+ yr old riders. Heck, Jens Voigt is just 7 years behind me. For me, 70 seconds is the difference between winning the race and being in 43rd place! Even among my non-racing peers, I regularly ride with very fast 50+ yr olds who knock out 4-5 hour centuries and sub 3 hour metrics. Given the amount of time and money they've spent getting fast, I imagine they're all about being faster for less effort.
Granted, MTBers and weekend hybrid riders aren't going to see that much benefit from shaved legs. But they weren't really the intended audience for the study any more than $10K aero bikes are intended for riding the MUP with the wife and kids.
