You might want to check those shifters when they arrive, the tricolor STIs started on the 8 speed version, the 7 speed 6400 had DT shifters.
edited post; Okay i checked them and your right 7 clicks which would make them an 8 speed. The cassette is a 7 speed. I'm guessing they had the derailleur stops set to prevent it from throwing the chain in the spokes. If it was on a 1992 they may have been mixing parts from the previous generation of DT shifter bikes. I have set of wheels I can use with an 8 speed cassette so maybe I'll use them and save the original wheels which are beautiful.
