maybe a coaster brake beach cruiser is better for low to no service, for the person who doesn't want to spend anything on service.

wheel durability improves if kept tensioned and trued, not so if ignored. and let get loose and wobbly.

how about a Super fat tired Cruiser.. Sun Crusher is in my LBS.. for sale, new.

they're about to sell off this year's normal beach cruiser rentals too..




You could also rebuild the Trek with something like an IGH , eliminating the derailleur , smooth 2" tires . and maybe bars you like better..

Add Ergon grips , or swap to Trekking '8' bend bars ..
