How much stuff do you need to carry? Kind of old school but a british style but a carradice nelson bag takes as much as a pannier and you can get a quick release for it. Plus it's made out of cotton duck so it's tough as nails and fairly waterproof. Buying a bag is a drag but if you like the style, it will save you from having to buy a new bike. Plus you end up with a great old school bag.
