sounds like you are moving closer to decision(s).

one practical thing to keep in mind with mech selection is the limited capacity of most older equipment.

the campag you mention is not happy with anything over 26T and has rather modest wrap as well. if you live in a comparatively flat area this would of course not be much of an issue. if you fit a campag mech you might wish to fit a campag shift lever as well. to be plausible it should be the early type with the narrow neck and old style font.

you mentioned you purchased a stronglight crankset to mount but did not say what the model is.

origin - has the information you have found so far make you think criterium is an actual cycle manufacturer? wonder if there is a chance it may represent a build for a particular shop by one of the major producers.
