Dad was that type who could drink 1/2 a beer and not want the rest. The autopsy showed that dad DID have a large heart attack when he thought he was having one....and the Dr. overlooked it, and to be fair they did not have the testing and knowledge in 1986 they do now, heart attacks at 46 were fairly rare for the most part.

Today if a 46 year old guy went with the symptoms dad had they would treat it far differently.

In men there are several age bands for heart risk, each have different profiles. Obviously, patterns in populations on inform, not predict an individuals experience.
46, is not all that rare... Surviving one at that age used to be...
We're doing better, mostly with finding those likely to have one, faster more appropriate interventions, and different treatment. But those and the early-mid 30's are still a major challenge.

Sorry you lost your Dad when he was so young. Happy to see you're past that age band... Next higher risk age brackets for both of us are much more influenced by lifestyle choices.
