46, is not all that rare... Surviving one at that age used to be...
We're doing better, mostly with finding those likely to have one, faster more appropriate interventions, and different treatment. But those and the early-mid 30's are still a major challenge.

Sorry you lost your Dad when he was so young. Happy to see you're past that age band... Next higher risk age brackets for both of us are much more influenced by lifestyle choices.
It was really outside the realm of the experience of that particular Dr, but there were OTHER patients of his that had a similar experience but who sought ER treatment because it was at a time his office was closed, and they survived the heart attacks they went to the ER about. Other patients went in for symptoms, he sort of blew them off after taking an EKG (maybe)....and then when their symptoms continued on the weekend, or when the other DR was in the office (they were partners) they got treatment and survived.

Hardening of the arteries was the cause of the heart attacks, something that is dealt with quite often these days.

Due to fear of the same thing I had 1 stress test before I was 40 (might have been early to mid 30's), and I think two more since, the last one was at 41-42 and it was not a cath, but they used some radioactive stuff, and one cardiac ultrasound, all have been good so far.
