Opinions on Steel road bikes under USD2000?

hey guys!

I am looking into buying a new road bike for both commuting and occasional racing that's steel and 105 components. So far I quite like bianchi vigorelli and surly pacer. What are your opinions? The reason I'm posting this is because recently surly upgraded their group set from Tiagra to 105. And I find them quite nice and attractive. Also surly has steel forks and bianchi has carbon forks. How big of a difference does that make?

I previously owned a bianchi imola which is same as vigorelli but with Tiagra group set, but that was my first bike and it got stolen. It is only after that I started to enjoy road bike more, so I don't really remember how the imola was actually like to compare. Currently have a 2010 bmc promachine with dura ace for racing, aluminum argon 18 electron for track, and had also bianchi pista as single speed for commuting. I'm wondering if any of you have experience with both the bikes?

Sorry for the long post!

Thanks for all your opinions!
Great day!
