No, he's not. I've ridden steel, alu, carbon and I've borrowed the odd Ti bike. The most comfortable bike I ever had was an old raleigh in 531.
I wouldn't conclude that steel is more comfortable than other materials, though there's no doubt it has different riding characteristics. I's certainly challenge the notion that Ti is almost always more comfortable than steel, the new stainless alloys have very impressive strength/weight ratios and can challenge Ti. The wrong tree that he is barking up is the tree of belief that comfort is heavily influenced by material as opposed to geometry etc.
