Honestly, I'm not quite sure. My LBS wasn't terribly descriptive about the issue. They told me something about inability to mount the shifters once taken off that strange contraption in picture 4 here:
As I was cleaning the Sprint 9000 I didn't feel there was any issue with its functionality, but they claimed that it was incompatible with anything but those particular shifters that would not mount. Perhaps I should've been more discerning. I still have all the parts, so maybe someone 'round these parts could help illuminate whatever the issue is––if even there is an issue. Later in the day I suppose I'll throw back together that weird contraption and photograph it for y'all.
