It might be that the instructions were written to cover folks switching bodies that are narrower or wider, or there might be parts in the kit for changing to 135mm spacing. Your question reinforces my issue with the difference between knowing what you're doing and blindly following step by step instructions.

You understand the implications of respacing the hub or repositioning the flanges, and whether dishing will be necessary. So you can cross that bridge when you come to it (if you do).
