I test rode around 15 bikes this summer.

The Emonda s4 is fine. It's a good bike. Of the options at it's price point, it was probably at the top of my options, though just barely.

The Emonda sl6 (same level of carbon as the sl5) is like riding a cloud. It's amazing. I am also waiting for it to come back into stock where I live. It had the most comfortable ride of anything I rode, without feeling "dead" like the Domane frame did. There were a few bikes that had a little more enjoyable handling, but none that had enjoyable handling and also anywhere near the comfort level of the ride of the Domane.

Here's a long thread on the Trek Emonda where other posters say the same thing -

The "sl" means the 500 level carbon, so it's the same frame, with more expensive components.

The only drawback of the Emonda is that it doesn't have as much of the road feel as a bike like the Tarmac has, but it's still ok on road feel and much much better (imo, not owning a recent Tarmac) at smoothing out bumps and eliminating road vibration.
