Someone on another forum of mine gave some good advice about looking at the current KOMs info on this segment. Compare his entry speed to mine. Maybe he got me on the end of his run, maybe he had more entry speed. I know I can get a faster entry speed so that will help.
One of the premium Strava features, which you obviously have to pay for, does just this - it shows your positioning vs other riders at as you progress through a segment.
