I'd say go for it. Collectors in this country key on our ball sports. Not cycling-related gear.I doubt those shoes are worth anything much to a collector. I would restore them and use them. As for the hat. Tricky one. The stiffener in the bill is cardboard, in the old ones. You might try the top shelf of the dishwasher or, try washing by hand.
