Can't catch a break in SF. First a crash, then my bike was stolen.

Been spending a few weeks in San Francisco while I transition between lives. Putzed around, went up some steep streets, over the Golden Gate a couple of times, and even tried to do a solo century (which ended at 84 miles since the cold crept in).

I like climbs, so I went up to Twin Peaks one day, coming in from the north. After coming down, I was in the West Portal neighborhood when my first real crashed occurred. I still have no idea what happened. Once second I was up, the next I was down. I was traveling around 19mph, and I must have hit the muni rail. However, my bike didn't stop, bump or jerk around, it simply skidded out from under me. The impact was on my back right side. Hit the back of my head hard, cracking the helmet, but thankfully my head was fine. Plenty of road rash and pains from the impact. I did not have health insurance, so I just sucked it up and fixed myself up.

After a week, although I still had back pain, I felt good enough to ride around. Once thing I needed to do was go to a shop to true my front wheel, which seemed to be the only damage to the bike.

The next day, I went to REI off of 7th St to quickly look at backpacks. I never use my bike to commute, but I am carless in SF and it would have been a quick trip. In the 20-25 minutes that I was in REI, my bike was stolen. Right in front of the cashiers no less. I am devastated. Gone, just gone. Really hearthbroken. Been through a lot lately, so I really did not need this.

Let me know if you see some crackhead selling a Jamis road bike. Burgundy/white color, 58cm with a relaxed geometry, so somewhat tall. Upgrades include November wheels (almost no decals) and a black Fizik Aliante saddle.
