I wonder what is gained with the high pressure rubber? I run 90 psi Nashbar's inflated to 100.. they wear great and are IMO the best compromise I have found ride, roll and wear. I ran 120's on a Cannondale R500.... which is about as stiff as you get can...and the ride was tolerable for me-- yet I could feel every variation on the rock in the asphalt. How much faster are they... and do I care? No... their a completely different style, a racing bike.
Narrower tires have less rolling resistance. The drawback is they run at higher pressures. There are tables that have recommended range of pressure for tire width and rider weight. It's more of road vs mountain bike. There are a wide variety of hybrids out there.
