New to cycling but recently picked up a Trek 750 on CL a few weeks ago and have been enjoying the exercise of my usual 13 mile rides through town. I went on a solo 28 mile ride today and other than a sore arse, felt pretty good when I finished. I thought I was going pretty quick as I passed several other bikers (non-road bikers) on my ride. At bout the half way point of my ride I was going up a small hill and a guy in full biking attire and a road bike buzzed by me fairly easily. Reality check I am in pretty good shape, but certainly not good cycling shape. Anywho, I'm hoping that at least some of the reason is he was on a road bike and I was on a cheap hybrid.
Either way, I figure I will get better and am happy with the bike I have for now as it does what I bought it for pretty well-cruising around for fun and exercise. I would really like to get on a decent road bike to see the difference.
