As I’ve said I could believe that, IF it had happened only once. But from the OP’s description they blocked the trail in more than one place. How does that jell with them “forgetting” where they are? Also as I said, I don’t disagree that the OP could have handled things better, but considering that the group had blocked the trail not just once but at least twice they were no longer entitled to such considerations.
