for skipping, think of one tiny, awkward little skid... 180 degrees of the pedal later, do it again, other foot forward. when you do it repeatedly, especially down a hill in the rain, the motion of your feet actually look like you're skipping--as in, loo, loo, skip to my loo, skip to my loo, my darling. and it feels like that, too. it will get smoother as you practice.
it's so much more controlled than skidding (for me), and a hell of a lot easier than trying to skid with my drops on--i keep on falling when i try that ****.
