There's no need to chastise someone for setting a price too high. The seller can set any price he wants. If he can find a buyer at that price, then that's the right price--the market price.
I've had instances when the seller's price and my price did not match. I would always end our correspondence with the message that should he change his mind to contact me. On several occasions the sellers did contact me some time later to ask if I was still interested at my price.
