What? There's plenty of decent options for the OP, I really don't understand what the point of all these other people being idiots is. Plenty of wheelsets guaranteed to be a lot lighter and better built than what came stock.

Campagnolo Zondas or Shimano RS81s are great choices under $500, or BDop's package if you have an LBS who can build for you.
