I live in Ithaca, NY, so it's no surprise that I'm 0.13 miles away from a short 10.2% hill that's good for repeats and 0.42 miles away from a Category 3 climb that has a maximum grade of 20.2%. There are a whole bunch of Category 3s and a few Category 2s within 15 miles but nothing above that in the Finger Lakes to my knowledge, which is a shame in a way since I'd like to tackle an HC. Hills are all over the place here - you really can't avoid them unless you know exactly where to go. Most are less than 1.5 miles but can be very intense, with grades briefly hitting over 20% on some of the streets (Kline Rd. near Ithaca HS gets to just over 24% for a max and I believe Protts Hill Rd. out in nearby Newfield may reach 26%). The steep streets leaving Cayuga Lake and heading up the ridges make for some of the hardest Category 4 climbs you can find anywhere. So nothing long, but quite a lot of grade to deal with.
