Somehow, I knew you'd know this, Steve B!

So, if they are already talking about improving the existing bikeway, I guess it's officially "open" (wink, snicker) and I guess there isn't going to be any kind of grand opening festivity.

Now that the initial thrill has worn off and I've had time to sit with the concept of the bikeway extension to Woodbury, I'm back to being kind of disappointed. I really hate that I can't recommend the on-road route between Syosset and Woodbury Road OR the bike path between Woodbury Road and Washington Avenue to my friends and neighbors who are novice riders or who are riding with kids. Between the very dangerous road crossings and the challenging hills, this is just way too risky for the average Sunday cyclist.

I will probably attend just to see if there is any plan to, at least, add an on-road portion from Woodbury Road toward the Crossways Industrial Park and into the Syosset Community Park, so there's an alternate destination safer and more inviting than the Syosset LIRR station.
