I agree entirely.

I meant that, being bearings you dissassemble (as opposed to just unbolting components), setting up the headset and BB can be awkward for someone not used to it. Not an issue with a cartridge BB, but for example, my recently finished frame is took a bit of tweaking to get the headset just so for me. I have adjusted the headset on my Dahon, and it is, as you say, standard (other than the folding stem).

As the hinge on a folder is a crucial part (), that would be the bit I'd be wariest of, as a poorly adjusted headset (if slightly loose) may rattle but won't necessarily cause any major issues until you can adjust it, if the hinge goes, that could be awkward!!

I agree, photos of everything crucial, especially any shims or springs, and if you can find the recommended torque wrench settings (for everything) use them.
