Keep in mind when I proofed my saddle the contents of the tin were already liquid (115 F in my garage). Some small bit of the contents leaked out too when UPS left in on my doorstep in the sun.
When I dabbed and smeared it on the saddle with fingers it sucked it right up. I also put a good amount on the bottom. No need to wipe it clean as 1hr later you couldn't even tell I'd proofed it. (haven't used the cloth that came with) Did I use 90% of the tin? Maybe, but maybe more like 75%, some lost from leakage, and me perhaps overestimating how much I did use. Three treatments plus touch up is more like four.

But the bottom line is I did use almost all of a tin and after this much my saddle got soaked thru and sagged badly after the 2nd 30min ride in the (very heavy) rain.
