Got a nice NiteRider 500 Lumens headlamp and a sweet flashy red light for the back. Both USB chargeable. Also got my hideously noticeable neon tights (see similarly named thread), to mismatch my day-glo w reflective highlights jersey.

I'm ready to be noticed and avoided by motorists.

Two high profile cyclist deaths in the area (one, riding against traffic on a sidewalk; the other, riding without a helmet) have me (and motorists, I hope) on high alert, although the same worn-out arguments are being played out in letters to the Editor ("All bicyclists run red lights and hog the roads!").
