I bought that same model about this time last year and it has worked very well for me. It replaced a 20-watt halogen headlamp I built 20 years ago using a yard lamp reflector and a 4-1/2 amp hour rechargeable battery. The battery was heavy, but Malibu Yard Lamp provided a combination spot/flood light spread I couldn't find anywhere else for such a low investment. The Niterider was the first LED headlamp I found in my budget that had the same spot/flood spread and light intensity. In fact it's much brighter and doesn't start fading after 1/2 hour. The fact that it fits in my backpack means I carry it year round in case I get caught out late. I originally wanted the 750, but the bike store was out. But when I saw the 500, I realized that was more than enough for me. I know it seems silly to get excited about a headlamp, but compared to what was available when I started riding as a kid in the 1960s and even as a serious biker in the 1980s, these LED lamps are magic! I'm no expert, but I love my Niterider 500. Enjoy Todzilla! (and consider a couple of helmet mounted blinkies to suppliment your visibility)
