Mavic recommends maximum 28mm tires for these rims... if you really want 40's you better get some different rims.
And are those Surly Ultra hubs? The single speed ones? Make sure you get the one with the OLD that matches your frame - they come in a lot of widths, for disk and non-disk brakes. Do you really know what you're doing?
