That's a good idea in principle but the problem is head shape isn't reflected by the circumference and some head/helmet combinations simply don't work even if the size is ostensibly correct. I say this as someone with an unorthodox, pterodactyloid noggin.
My suggestion will at least get the op in the correct Nieghborhood. He said that he bought one that was waaaayy too big.
I dont believe that there are custom shaped helmets available on the market. Are there??
