I assume you are referring to risk of breakage. Sure that is a possibility. It is also true that a robust design could have been used that would yield a bar that is just as strong as a bar made for external cables. There is nothing inherently dangerous about the idea, just possibly how it is executed. Is this one going to be okay. Dunno. His bar, his problem.
