It's awesome. Scientists having these ridiculously long predictions. But with what we're discovering now, their linear predictions are worthless, it should accelerate rapidly. The amount of glaciers we're losing isn't linear, it's exponential. The amount of dark earth exposed, absorbing heat is accelerating. And with methane, that will accelerate it even more so, probably to the point it will be unstoppable. And with increasing urbanization, the amount of concrete etc, it's absorbing more heat as well. So much stuff going on, that isn't even pollution that will push climate change. I love it. I'm excited.
Even lakes and ponds are releasing methane at an astonishing rate, that the climate change models haven't accounted for. It's so freaking awesome!
And we're discovering more dead zones in the our waters. Which is extinguishing a large portion of oxygen producing organisms. Some of these areas are being invaded by sulfur producing bacteria, further killing water life. Accelerating dead zones. You need gas masks in these areas, because the sulfur is toxic. Don't you love it?
We stomped past 400ppm CO2 this year. We've raised CO2 levels faster in 150 years than what previously took Earth 3-5 million years. The tipping point for climate change was 350, so we're past that. But METHANE is more awesome. It's going to be great!
Let's see if we can raise the ocean temps by 1C. Because then maybe we can make the TRILLIONS of frozen methane unstable and have that release into the air. That will accelerate climate change immensely. Off the coast of California, there are already methane pockets that are releasing gas at a decent rate 24/7. And we're discovering more of these in the arctic, it's already begun. It will be awesome! For those that don't know, methane is 20 times more potent than CO2. It's fantastic. Cows in US from farts contribute more to greenhouse effect than cars. It's awesome.
Apparently the perma-frost defrosting in the arctic will also release large amounts of methane. Don't you love methane? It will get hotter and we'll need more AC, more energy, it's going to be cyclical. I love it.
Aren't you excited? It's going to happen. Before any government decides to do anything, the ocean floors will release methane and we'll be f'd. It's fantastic.
