i have a related question:

i have a 2008 orbea ora with a 50x39 crank, 12-25 cassette (10 speed). the crank was a stock 53x39, but i have since swapped the 53t for the 50t.

i just moved to hilly southern california from flat SE texas, so even with a 50x39 crankset, i am too over-geared for my age (54) and the hilly terrain. looking to make mods to the drivetrain to allow for lower gearing.

contemplating putting a 9-speed mountain (long-cage) rear derailleur with a 9-speed cassette, say. 11-32. also, replace the 50x39 cransket with a new 50x34 compact crankset.

any reason i can't do this component swap ?
