Ride the week before but not hard.

Were you referring to a training ride of 100 miles? I wasn't sure but since this is a solo century (with a little help from my wife) it doesn't serve my purpose here (doesn't make it wrong in other circumstances).

That is my assumption but it does bring up an interesting story. I lost 50'ish pounds a couple years ago (diet and spinner bike cycling). This is not the first time that I have done this, but previously it was running/diet or a real bike (and diet). Early this summer I decided that it would be cool to run my 10th marathon the week of my 65th birthday (and interestingly exactly 30 years after my last marathon). But while my knees and ankles could handle the run, I did not think they could handle the training.

And I had this very nice, mid 90's vintage, EL-OS Nivacrom steel Binachi in the attic. So it got revived (ultimately new Chorus components and modern wheels) with the target of a century the week of my 65th birthday (coming up shortly). So as Paul Harvey would say 'that is the rest of the story'.

The question on my mind was training the last week. I have pretty much settled on one more long ride (60 to 70 miles) a week before the ride, maybe one more shorter, interval oriented workout, an easy ride, and the last 3 days will (inevitably) be no cycling as I have a long time friend from Ky. arriving for 3 days of golf (cart golf - so it won't be strenuous). Probably wouldn't change that even with info that said it was a bad idea.
