Which came first, the chicken or the egg? High saddle prejudice dictates "digging" or "digging" preference dictates high saddle. Having read OPs other posts re: bike fit, I have to think he is justifying his high saddle prejudice. My approach would be to start with a neutral saddle height, perhaps by a popular formula and let comfort and natural foot preferences dictate whether to go up or down. If you find yourself digging and not extending you leg enough, then raise your saddle. If you find yourself flat footed and reaching for the pedals, lower the saddle. Easy-peasey. I wouldn't purposely start with a high or low saddle just because of a third party recommendation for how to point your feet.
