Unless you get the paint viscosity and application technique perfect, brushing will leave streaks and brush marks in the paint surface. You can use masking and a spray bomb but an air brush would probably work better for such a confined area. One real advantage of spraying is that if you clear coat the head badge, you can mist on the first couple of coats and allow them to flash dry thus sealing the art work and ink/paint onto the badge before the gloss coats for the paint. Looks good so far though.
