Trying to ride your bike in a car-centric culture such as North America is an uphill battle to be sure. I am fortunate that I live in a municipality that has extensive bike lanes, but still more needs to be done to change the perception that cycling is only a recreational/fitness activity rather than a more mode of transportation.
