If it was just 1 mm, I'd give it a shot. I'd prefer not to have too much sticking out of the nipple though.

Looking back at your original post, you mention the spokes are from an older wheelset. I have re-used spokes, but only spokes that didn't have a lot of miles. Considering the effort involved in building a wheel, I like to use new butted spokes. Maybe you could think about getting new spokes. I haven't purchased from danscomp but this price is exceptional. I'm thinking about a couploe of wheels I want to build this winter.
