When I posted about acquiring my 2013 model Crosstrail Disc Hybrid?...I also let folks know that I had stopped by the LBS (before the bike ever made it home) to swap out the "Ginormous Platform Pedals" that were on it...and right away folks expressed and interest in them with me gifting them to the first poster that called dibbs...well?...I finally sent them out today and when I PM'ed the member the tracking number?...I also included a little note which read...
"listen....the reason I knew I was going to replace these right away is....Don't Try To Pedal Around Corners With Them!...my first test ride of the bike (before I even paid for it) I caught a corner...and I wasn't even leaning very much so BE CAREFUL!"
Now I know that pedaling around corners is a no-no and I almost always glide through a corner lean side up as S.O.P. but...
This was different..it wasn't a corner...it was more just a sweeping curve in a vacant parking lot and I still stubbed a corner of those pedals on asphalt....knew right then the pedals were off of there and goners but loved the bike and bought it.
The pedals in question were the lower line $20 Tioga Large (spiked) Platforms...and I know they probably have their use but I decided right there and then that for my riding?...I have no use for them...just a friendly heads up to Ride Safe & L8R, Bill.
