I do not have any comparisons to other trainers to make :-) other than the abortions they have at the YMCA :-). I think overall it is making me a better cyclist, the learning curve will limit most folks me included somewhat on doing anything other than seated riding in the beginning, which is fine for me really because my whole season June to October was all seated riding really :-).
The "sit bone" punishment IMHO is more severe than road riding because it is SO much harder to take pressure off, on the road I would just coast ans stand on the pedals every 10 minutes if need be to let some blood flow into still tender areas :-).
I hop off at 30 minutes and go grab a glass of water from the sink, tried a little longer time off, a few minutes say to switch laundry loads then there is some lactate buildup that makes resuming tougher, hop off, go to sink, drink, hop back on does not.
Made the 120 minutes today....plenty of "fuel" on board, I had 100g of steel cut oats, and two pieces of toast with flavored cream cheese for breakfast, 545 cals, 94g of carbs...that left me plenty of gas to go 120 minutes :-). The final 15 minutes was tough in the sit bone dept though.
The "steady state" pedaling, zero coasting is good practice, on the road it is SO easy to just skip a few pedal strokes here and there when you get tired....and that makes pacing heart rate a lot less "scientific" and harder to quantify IMHO.
Hoping the new Aerotech top shelf bibs will help some in that dept too. Currently I have a pair of Bontrauger shorts that I bought at 280-270 lbs and have worn them over 2,000 miles on rides up to 75 miles, but some reviewers on Amazon relegated them to "shorter rides".
Todays 120 minutes was all around 100w output virtual power.
