Andy's advice is very good. It won't steer you wrong. I would mention that I have built many bikes from frames over the last 33 years and have never once faced a head tube. All kinds of road frames from all the common materials. Never have I experienced any negative performance issues or problems down the line due to skipping that step. Perhaps I am just lucky, but my point is needing to face the tubes is the exception rather than the rule.
