Bikes: Co-Motion Cappuccino Tandem,'88 Bob Jackson Touring, Co-Motion Cascadia Touring, Open U.P., Ritchie Titanium Breakaway, Frances Cycles SmallHaul cargo bike. Those are the permanent ones; others wander in and out of the stable occasionally as well.

Are cup and cone bearings more forgiving of the potential misalignment from an unfaced surface?

Andy - I was just in Rochester for Thanksgiving. My two brother-in-laws ride tandems there and I have a CoMotion Cappuccino. We do family tours every year and had a great trip across NY State on the Erie Canal a few years ago. It beats the heck out of the C&O & GAP IMO.

Are you a builder; I see you ride several Stewart bikes...

I was inquiring about a CoMotion Cascadia Frame BTW.
