That's why i don't use bar mitts, with my mitten it takes me 1s and they are warm enough for -40F and beyond (whatever the windchill) so no need to add unecessary hassle of having to put up and remove my bar mitts plus find some room in my bag every time i need to park my bike somewhere. May I ask what kind of mittens you have? I'm asking because if I could go -40F without bar mitts I'd do it too.
