Better toss the cable. Either use a U-lock to secure the front wheel to the frame, or remove the wheel and lock inside the U-lock or chain used for the rear.

The only excuse for a cable is if you assume that a thief will be charitable and decide your front wheel is not worth the few seconds it takes him to cut your cable.
