Another +1 for Giant needing to dial back the logos,I'm so glad the ones on my Defy are black against charcoal and aren't very noticeable.

As for the discs, lots of nasty flamewars on this site from disc vs rim. On a bike going to be ridden in the rain and snow, discs are the best choice. For going as light-weight as possible, you want rim. But one thing to consider with hydros is they're almost maintenance free. Swap the pads when they wear down, and bleed them every couple of years, and that's about it. Combine them with the new electric shifting groupos and you'd have a bike that needs no regular adjustments.

Of course, the whole argument is moot here. This bike is only available with discs,so if you want the bike, that's what you get.
