When I bought a Pacer frame 2 years ago, it was worth the $399 online that I paid for (might've been $299). It was not worth the $650+ from the two LBSs that I asked. The third wasn't interested in ordering it for me.

My guess is that they want LBSs to stock more of their bikes and the LBSs aren't going to do it w/ a gray market.
