that video is NOT showing what we are recommending. forget that one. i didn't even know that was possible! it's involved in something, as you noticed, that is much more complicated. (BTW, i AM going to watch that video, just to see how and what he's doing there. i have an idea, but only watched a few minutes.)

note that he does mention another video of his. it's shown in a picture on picture window (how'd he do dat!) that shows how to remove a shimano freehub from a hub shell. if, in fact, you find that you have a shimano hub shell that will accept the now standard shimano freehub attachment method, and decide to do the work yourself, it should prove useful.

time passes...

ok, i'm back after just watching most, but not all, of that very complicated video on converting a uniglide freehub to a hyperglide freehub by removing an 8-speed hyperglide casette carrier and it's dust cup and putting them on a 7-speed uniglide freehub.

all i can say is, THAT guy as a lot of free time on his hands.

that uniglide freehub can be replaced with a 7-speed hyperglide freehub like this, which is what you need if you end up doing it, with a lot less work. although i have to admit it, he's to be admired for his dogged determination, if nothing else.
