Park TS-2.2 truing stand - usable freestanding or not?
I am thinking about upgrading after many years to the Park TS-2.2 truing stand. Let's make a short digression here to stipulate I know I don't need it. I have already posted how I can get naked, squeeze a wheel between my knees and use dangling equipment to indicate lateral and radial true. Or I can follow other folks' example and use an old bike fork and cable ties. Or build wheels on my bike turned upside down and using the brake pads, or etc., etc. But I build a lot of wheels for an amateur, I have always used a real stand, and now I want the best. Nuff said.
My question is can the TS-2.2 be used freestanding, or does it have to be bolted to a work bench or heavy base? If not usable freestanding without a base, is the Park TSB-2 tilting base sufficient to convert the stand to freestanding use. Or does that combination still have to be bolted down?
Descriptions on the Park and retailers' sites don't clearly answer this question to my satisfaction.
Thanks for your help.
