Every year on Christmas Eve Mrs. Trotsky's family does a white elephant gift exchange. The whammy gift is this creepy chef statue named Claude. If you get stuck with him, you have to proudly display him in your home for the following year, and provide photographic evidence. We were the lucky winners last Christmas, but naturally we put off the photo session until the last possible minute.
The weather was nice, so I decided to take Claude on a tour of some of the city's cake statues commemorating St. Louis's 250th birthday.
South City Reservoir
Lafayette Square
Jay's International Grocery Store
The Arch
The Old Cathedral
Busch Stadium (the cake was being repaired, so Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst had to fill in)
The Old Courthouse (Dred Scott case decided here)
The Old Post Office (my office)
Christ Church Cathedral Episcopal Church
The Central Library
